What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy?

A Brief Overview

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on understanding and healing the different parts of a person's internal system. In this approach, it is believed that individuals have various parts within themselves that represent different aspects of their personality, emotions, and experiences. These parts may have different beliefs, feelings, and desires, and can sometimes conflict with each other.

The goal of IFS therapy is to help individuals identify and understand these parts, and to help them develop a harmonious and balanced relationship among them. By exploring and working with these internal parts, individuals can gain insight into their feelings, behaviors, and relationships, and can learn to heal and integrate conflicting parts to achieve a greater sense of self-awareness and inner harmony.
